master plan naming opportunities little league

In May of 2012, Mr. Floyd "Babe" Appling proposed to the Board of the El Campo Little League that he would donate approximately 60 acres of land to allow the organization to build its "Field of Dreams" on the West Loop inside of the El Campo city limits.

The generous offer of land from Mr. Appling, coupled with an existing $500,000 commitment from the El Campo City Development Corporation, and a pledge of $300,000 from the El Campo Rotary Club gave the El Campo Little League the seed capital required to do what little league players have been doing in El Campo since 1961 – Dream Big.

This Big Dream of the Little League Board was a public/private partnership to develop a state of the art "Field of Dreams" for their permanent home, which would also serve as a destination attraction for All-Star and Select Baseball and Softball Tournaments, resulting in a year round economic impact for El Campo.

With these ambitious dreams, the Little League board worked quickly to secure an additional $300,000 in capital from the El Campo Economic Development Board and an additional $250,000 commitment from the Rotary Club. $25,000 grants have also been secured from the LCRA and the M.G. & Lillie A. Johnson Foundation plus an additional $5,000 from the Trull Foundation.

With over $1.5 million in working capital pledged to the project, the City of El Campo and the El Campo ISD have both recently committed to being involved in the project, making the dream of a public/private partnership a reality.

With public partnerships in place in addition to the $1.5M+ in capital secured from generous donations, the Big Dream of the El Campo Little League Board is coming true. The bases are loaded for the cleanup hitters in this project to step up to the plate. If you share in the Big Dream of a Premier Baseball/Softball Complex in El Campo, you are invited to participate in the Field of Dreams Capital Campaign.
